As we study political and economic regions, we are using the Pacemaker Economics book (see our Economics Resources We Like page for more info).

 

Integrating our subjects is making the learning more “real-life” than studying these ideas independently of each other.

Online research to accompany the core lesson from each co-op follows up on the concepts we’ve discussed and encourages the students to focus in on a particular country, region, city, people-group, etc.  The students bring their research back to the next co-op meeting and teach each other what they’ve learned.

Lots of movies provide Geography learning.  We’ll add to this list as we watch more of them this year.  So far we’ve watched:

Pinterest focus boards on different countries

Group activities and events – like International Dinners where we cook together and try foods from other countries, exploration of music and dance from around the world, technology presentations using Powerpoint, Prezi, Videos and more to teach one another about the amazing world we live in.
